The Plenary of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), within the
Direct Action of Unconstitutionality (ADI) n. 3937, declared the
constitutionality of São Paulo's State law n. 12.684/07
which prohibits the use of products containing any kind of
asbestos.
The decision did not rule into the extension of its effects, in
other words, if the ban on the use of asbestos is restricted to the
State of São Paulo or whether it is applicable nationally.
However, there are still other ADIs discussing the
constitutionality of other State laws under analysis of the
STF.
