As courts re-open around the country, Lewis Brisbois' National Trial Team is at the forefront of these developments. In this update, we share news from our Seattle office, where Partner Rachel Reynolds and Associate Alejandra Torres secured a defense verdict in one of the first jury trials to be held in the country since the pandemic began. Learn about the unique circumstances Msses. Reynolds and Torres faced in this case, which took place in a converted events center.

We also share the exciting news of New York State's in-person jury trial pilot program, which has now expanded to New York City and the surrounding Metro Area. New York Partner Alecia Walters-Hinds has been assisting with this program as a member of the state's Commission to Reimagine the Future of New York's Courts, and New York Trial Partner James T. Whalen, Jr. is leading one of the first jury trials currently underway in Staten Island.

Even as in-person trials begin to ramp back up, these are still uncertain times that call for creative solutions to clients' problems. Therefore, we take a moment in this update to look at the benefits of mock trials and juror evaluation exercises, both of which our New York Trial Team recently conducted to assist with defense strategies ahead of trial.

As usual, we include in this newsletter some major trial and appellate wins, a spotlight on two of our outstanding Trial Team members, information on our newest ABOTA members, and other important news from around the firm.
