Partner Rick McKenna was a speaker at the INTA Design Protection Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark. During the conference, Rick presented a case study paper he authored entitled "Apple, Inc., - A Case Study in Successful Exploitation of Design and Innovation." The case study anaylzes the strategies successfully employed by Apple to develop, commercialize and protect its non-functional design innovations. The paper also provides practical advice for other consumer products companies to apply the Apple model and secure similar protections though an integrated program of design innovations through both Design Patent and Trademark systems.
