We know that cybersecurity and the protection of data privacy are areas of critical concern for our clients. The arrival of Kendall and Josh significantly enhances our ability to address these concerns and advise our clients in this rapidly evolving area of the law.

Kendall comes to Mayer Brown from the US Department of Commerce, where she served as Deputy General Counsel for strategic initiatives. In that capacity, she served as the chief policy expert for the Office of General Counsel, developing and executing the department's priorities in areas such as cybersecurity, consumer privacy, intellectual property and international trade. Previously, Kendall served as a senior national security fellow at the Center for Democracy & Technology and as Special Assistant to the President and Associate White House Counsel. Kendall is a New America Cybersecurity Fellow and was a speaker on November 13 at New America's Silicon Valley discussion, " Decrypting the Gender Gap: Women in Cybersecurity." Kendall earned her JD degree from the University of Chicago Law School and a BA from Bowdoin College.

Before his arrival at Mayer Brown, Josh served as a Special Assistant to the Assistant Attorney General for National Security at the US Department of Justice. There, he provided counsel on legal and policy questions in the areas of cybersecurity, counterterrorism, intelligence, CFIUS matters and other national security issues. He also participated in interagency meetings on international crises and completed a department-wide assessment of counterterrorism resource allocation. Josh earned JD and BA degrees from Yale University and an MPhil from the University of Cambridge.

These two individuals bring impeccable and impressive government experience to Mayer Brown and to our Cybersecurity & Data Privacy practice. We know our clients will benefit from their command of cutting-edge solutions to cybersecurity and global privacy needs.
