On April 24, 2018, the Supreme Court handed down two opinions in cases related to inter partes review (IPR). In a 7-2 decision, the Court upheld the constitutionality of IPRs in Oil States Energy Services, LLC v. Greene's Energy Group, LLC. Then, in SAS Institute v. Matal, the Court ruled 5-4 that the Patent Trial and Appeal Board must review all challenged IPR claims or none at all.
