On April 1, 2019, Chairman David S. Johanson announced that Judge Cameron Elliot has joined the U.S. International Trade Commission ("ITC") as an Administrative Law Judge ("ALJ"). ALJ Elliot joins ALJs Bullock, Shaw, Lord, McNamara, and Cheney as the sixth ALJ at the ITC.
Elliot has significant prior experience both as an ALJ and an intellectual property lawyer. Elliot was previously an ALJ with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Social Security Administration. He also worked at an intellectual property specialty firm before his judicial career. Previously, Elliot served as an assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York in Brooklyn, NY, and the Southern District of Florida in Miami. Elliot also worked as a trial attorney on the Intellectual Property Staff in the Commercial Litigation Branch of the U.S. Department of Justice's Civil Division, and as a law clerk for U.S. District Judge Edward Reed in Reno, NV.
According to the ITC website, Elliot enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a seaman, entered the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, and served as an engineering officer on two submarines after graduating college,. After leaving active duty in 1992, he served in the Navy Reserve until 1993.
Elliot graduated from Harvard Law School after earning a bachelor's degree in physics and applied physics, magna cum laude, from Yale College.
