Partner Daniel Kurtz, chair of Pryor Cashman's Nonprofit + Tax-Exempt Organizations Group, discussed the National Rifle Association's (NRA) bankruptcy declaration and move to Texas from New York. The filing and move come after the previously discussed New York State Attorney General Letitia James filing against the organization. As quoted in the New York Times, Kurtz said:

"You can't escape the A.G., period," said Daniel Kurtz, a former chief of the charities bureau in the New York attorney general's office, the division that handled the N.R.A. case. "They can't simply move to Texas intact and become the N.R.A. in Texas without getting a court or the attorney general to approve the transaction."
