In a letter to SEC Chair Jay Clayton, the House of Representatives Committee on Financial Services expressed concern over the lack of ethnic and racial diversity among SEC advisory committees.

The Committee asked that the SEC describe (i) the process by which members are appointed to advisory committees, (ii) the role of the Office of Minority, Women and Inclusion, and (iii) plans to increase the representation of racial and ethnic minorities on advisory committees. Additionally, the Committee requested data on the current and historical demographics of advisory committees.
