President Joe Biden nominated Gary Gensler as Chair of the SEC. Mr. Gensler previously served as CFTC Chair under the Obama administration from 2009 to 2014.

The North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) issued a statement, saying the nomination signals the Biden Administration intends to "pursue a regulatory agenda that prioritizes investor protection and [will be] supported by vigorous examination and enforcement efforts."

Separately, the Futures Industry Association (FIA) stated it is "look[ing] forward" to working with Mr. Gensler to "identify areas of potential CFTC and SEC harmonization that will enhance the integrity of the financial system."
