President Joseph R. Biden revoked a June 11, 2020 Executive Order 13928 ("Blocking Property of Certain Persons Associated with the International Criminal Court") that declared a national emergency and imposed sanctions against persons associated with the International Criminal Court ("ICC").

In the new Executive Order, President Biden terminated the national emergency and asserted that sanctions "are not an effective or appropriate strategy for addressing the United States' concerns with the ICC."

As a result, OFAC lifted sanctions against two ICC officials and removed the officials from the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List (or "SDN List").
