Indian Law Update

The Department of Energy Tribal Energy Program has issued a request for information from tribes, developers, industry, suppliers, utilities, independent power producers, NGOs and other persons interested in the deployment of renewable energy in Indian Country in the 48 contiguous States. DOE will consider the information in determining barriers – e.g., tribal, federal, financial, availability of transmission, availability of financing – to renewable energy deployment and how DOE can best help accelerate deployment of such projects. Responses to the RFI must be submitted no later than February 28, 2009.

Bracewell & Giuliani encourages all interested parties to take advantage of this important opportunity to offer input on issues that affect development of renewable energy resources on tribal land and that affect your business.
