UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) is actively reaching out to employers whose Sponsor Licences are set to expire between now and the middle of 2021

In an email, UKVI advises that due to upcoming changes in the U.K. immigration system, they decided to allow sponsors whose licence expires within the next year to request renewal well in advance of the usual timeframes.

Typically, UKVI reaches out to sponsors no more than four months in advance of an upcoming Sponsor Licence expiration and advise sponsors to complete their online renewal application three months in advance at the earliest.

Now, however, once sponsors receive the renewal email from UKVI, they can request renewal from the date stated within the invitation.

IDV Application

UKVI has announced they plan to release a new route for some in-country applicants to complete the application process.

This involves sponsors using the new UKVCAS Identity Verification (IDV) mobile application. The app will allow applicants to submit facial images and supporting information without having to attend an in-person appointment.

The IDV app will only be available to candidates who have previously had their biometric details taken before. Therefore, UKVI can 'reuse' their data.

Applicants that have already submitted applications in the U.K. and are waiting to schedule a biometric appointment will be invited to use the IDV app if they're eligible. The app is expected to be released sometime this month (Aug. 2020).
