In late 2020, the Malta Government revisited its citizenship
legislation. A new programme, which can lead to Maltese citizenship
is: Maltese Citizenship by Naturalisation for Exceptional Services
by Direct Investment.
This programme provides foreign individuals and their families,
who contribute to the economic development of Malta, a route to
becoming citizens of Malta. Applicants can opt for residency in
