With the Regulation on the Amendment of the Regulation on Commercial Communication and Commercial Electronic Messages (the "Regulation"), which is published in the Official Gazette and entered into force today, the deadlines for registration of recipients' approvals for commercial electronic messages with the Commercial Electronic Message Management System (the "CEMMS") are postponed.

As per the Regulation, recipients' approvals for commercial electronic messages must be registered with the CEMMS by 1 December 2020. Following the registration of recipients' approvals, a notification will be sent to the recipients through the CEMMS, stating that their approvals (i) have been registered, (ii) will be deemed valid, unless otherwise claimed by 16 January 2021 and (iii) may be rejected via the CEMMS.

The Ministry of Trade is authorized to postpone the foregoing dates for six months, based on the service providers' qualification and commercial electronic message approvals' size.

This alert covers only amendments introduced to postpone the deadlines stipulated for registering approvals to the CEMMS. Please contact us if you need detailed information regarding the CEMMS.
