Social Security Institution published a Circular dated 07.05.2020 and numbered 2020/12 ("Circular") regarding the disease inflicted from Covid-19.

In the Circular, by referring to Article 15 of the Social Insurance and General Health Insurance Law No. 5510, it is referred that the diseases of the insured other than work accident or occupational disease which causes incapacity to work are disease statuses. Besides, by taking into account that Covid-19 virus is a contagious disease, it is stated that instead of obtaining "work accident" or "occupational disease" provision, the provision in the scope of "disease" shall be obtained for the insured who was exposed to pandemic and consulted to health service providers.
