Curfew Details

The Turkish Republic Ministry of Interior issued a circular on April 3, 2020 instating a curfew for those born January 1, 2000 or later (i.e. those who are 20 years old or younger), starting at midnight on April 3, 2020.

Employees Are Exempt

According to the new circular issued on April 5, 2020 by the Turkish Republic Ministry of Interior, certain citizens born between January 1, 2000 and January 1, 2002 (i.e., 18 to 20 years of age) are exempt from the curfew:

  • Those who are public officers, contracted personnel or employees in public institutions and organizations;
  • Those who have a regular job in the private sector and document this with a social security registration document; and
  • Those who are seasonal agricultural workers.

These exemptions do not apply to those born after January 1, 2002 (i.e., younger the age of 18).Youth exempted from the curfew must carry documents that prove their exemption and submit these documents when requested during inspections.
