The Ministry of Public Finance published the Governmental Agreement number 82-2017, which states that the President of the Republic of Guatemala has granted to taxpayers and to responsible people for the compliance with tax obligations an exoneration of fines, default interests, or charges, if they pay 100% of the taxes owed or comply with the pending formal obligations before the Tax Administration.

The Governmental Agreement will be valid for three months and come into force as of May 20, 2017.

Exonerations will be applied, upon the full payment of the tax due or upon the fulfillment of the pending formal obligation according to the following rules (a) a 100% will be exonerated if the tax is payed or the formal obligation is complied during the first applicable month; a 95% will be exonerated if the tax is payed or the formal obligation is complied during the second applicable month and a 90% will be exonerated if the tax is payed or the formal obligation is complied during the third applicable month.
