On Wednesday, 1 July we hosted a webinar where partners from across our African footprint, and a special guest from international law firm Sullivan & Cromwell, discussed:

  • Corporate risk and investigations - what risks have been created or heightened during COVID-19 disruptions and lockdowns?
  • How should organisations be allocating corporate risk resources during this period - what should we expect from our people?
  • View from Washington: How active are US enforcement authorities being during this period? What are they looking at right now?  What are their priorities?  Trends and developments, including updated Department of Justice guidance on corporate compliance programs.

The discussion was facilitated by Chris Todd, our Head of Dispute Resolution. Panel members included: Aisling O'Shea, Co-head of the FCPA and Anti-Corruption Group and member of the Criminal Defense and Investigations Group, Sullivan & Cromwell LLP (Washington D.C.); Matthew Purchase, partner, Bowmans South Africa; Terry Mwango, partner, Bowmans Kenya; David Mpanga, partner,  Bowmans Uganda; and Wilbert Kapinga, Managing Partner, Bowmans Tanzania.
