Guidelines for Movement of Goods and Services Across the COMESA
Region During the COVID-19 Pandemic
|
Published on 10 June 2020 by COMESA, as adopted by the 8th
Extra-Ordinary Council of Ministers' Meeting on 14 May
2020.
|
The Guidelines:
- are aimed at facilitating the movement of goods and services
during the COVID-19 pandemic without amending or replacing any
provisions of the COMESA Treaty;
- provide a basis for the regional private sector, including
freight companies, to engage respective governments to implement
the recommendations to address the current challenges affecting the
flow of goods and services within the region; and
- considered similar guidelines developed by the East African
Community("EAC") and the Southern
African Development Community ("SADC")
in response to the COVID-19 to ensure they complement and not
conflict.
