Background

INZ have recently introduced a Managed Isolation Allocation System (MIAS), to help allocate places in quarantine to those returning to New Zealand. This voucher system came into force at midnight 2 November 2020 and is now mandatory for all individuals returning to New Zealand.

Update

The government has announced that places in Managed Isolation and Quarantine (MIQ) are extremely limited leading up to the holiday period. If a voucher has not already been secured, there is a real chance that individuals will not be able to travel on their intended date or leave a managed facility before Christmas.

Our advice

Non-refundable travel should not be booked before securing a voucher for a place in MIQ.
