The Office of Foreign Labor Certification (the FLC Office) under the U.S. Department of Labor recently published data regarding the use of the H-1B program for the first two quarters during the current, Fiscal Year 2016. The data shows that about 81.5% of the Labor Condition Applications (LCAs) filed in FY 2016 were for IT, software or computer related positions. A significant number of H-1Bs are used for Accountants & auditors, Management Analysts, Financial Analysts and Operations Research Analysts; 22% of the total are then used for all other occupations. Five of the top 10 employers using the H-1B program are either subsidiaries of Indian companies or have significant operations in India and these are Wipro Limited, Infosys Limited, Birlasoft, Inc. Capgemini America, Inc. And Cognizant Technology Solutions U.S. Corp. The other five of the top 10 employers are Deloitte Consulting, LLP, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, LLP, Apple, Inc. Pricewaterhouse Coopers Advisory Services, LLC and Deloitte & Touche, LLP. The U.S. states that receive the most H-1B workers are California, Texas and New York in that order. Following these, Pennsylvania and Illinois, each receive about 6% of the total, while Georgia, Massachusetts, Florida and Washington receive about 3.5% of the total each.
