There is clear and increasing current public concern that the
Personal Data Privacy Ordinance lacks the strict requirement of the
European GDPR for prior consent of the Data Subject to any
collection of Personal Data - something lacking in the present
Ordinance. There are increasing rumbles and flak about the Personal
Data Privacy Commissioner liaising with the draftsman to put
together the necessary amending bill to amend the Ordinance
accordingly in this and some other ways though there is no public
news on this yet.
The content of this article is intended to provide a general
guide to the subject matter. Specialist advice should be sought
about your specific circumstances.
