The Chief Executive of Guernsey Finance, Rupert Pleasant, has welcomed the addition of several high-profile new listings as part of a record first quarter for The International Stock Exchange, which is headquartered in Guernsey.

During the first three months of 2021, 225 new securities were listed on TISE, the most since the Exchange's formation in 1998 and a rise in the total number by more than the 2.3% from the end of Q4 2020.

Mr Pleasant said: "This is great news for the reputation of Guernsey's finance sector as a whole. With the recent global uncertainty of Covid-19 and Brexit, this confidence shows the strength, stability and substance in the island."

Bond listings in the first quarter have included 16 high yield bonds including issuances from the likes of car rental company Hertz, technology company Diebold Nixdorf and cruise ship operator, the British-American Carnival Corporation.

Other bonds included the English Premier League's Crystal Palace Football Club and footwear provider Schuh.

Cees Vermaas, CEO of The International Stock Exchange Group, said the new listings put TISE in a good position to step up the implementation of its updated strategy.
