Don Ebanks, Managing Director of DMS Offshore Investment Services, discusses changes to the fund governance landscape in the Cayman Islands in recent years. In an interview published in Finance Monthly (June 2016 issue), Mr. Ebanks identified an overarching trend in fund governance – that investors are becoming more focused on the skills and experience of directors, both individually and collectively, with investors interviewing directors and requesting responses to DDQs with a frequency unknown even two to three years ago.

"They also want access to directors when there are any material contentious matters under consideration. My view is that you should always be available to listen to investors and engage proactively. Ultimately good fund governance is in the interests of investors, so it's important for investors to express their views and be able to engage with the investment manager and Board," he stated.
