The Companies (Amendment) Law 2019, which was published on 8 August 2019, introduces a new section 55A to the Companies Law (2018 Revision) which came into effect on 1 October 2019. Section 55A permits any person to inspect a list of the names of the current directors and alternate directors (if any) of a Cayman Islands company upon payment of a fee of CI$50 (US$61). For the avoidance of doubt, the list, which is maintained by the General Registry, will include only the names of the current directors and will not include the directors' addresses or any historic information in respect of previous directors.

Similarly, pursuant to the Limited Liability Companies (Amendment) Law 2019 a new section 34A was added to the Limited Liability Companies Law (2018 Revision) which also came into effect on 1 October 2019. Section 34A permits any person to inspect a list of the current managers of any Cayman Islands limited liability company at the General Registry upon payment of a fee of CI$50 (US$61).

It should be noted that any inspection may only be undertaken in person at the General Registry in the Cayman Islands (not online) and that it is necessary to know the name of the company in order to review the list of its directors or managers. It is not possible to undertake a general search to find out on which, or for how many, companies a particular director or manager may serve. Copies of the list of directors or managers will not be provided but applicants will be permitted to take notes.
