The Cayman Islands business community has an opportunity to help promote local entrepreneurship, by sponsoring the Department of Commerce and Investment (DCI) Small Business Expo.

The expo will take place on Saturday, 18 April at the Family Life Centre. The event is going into its third year, having previously been billed as a celebration of Cayman Entrepreneurship Day.

DCI Business Services Officer Thais Ducent said that sponsors of this event will enhance their reputations and prestige in the community.

'Sponsoring the expo offers opportunities for marketing, and is a great way to increase your competitive advantage through heightened visibility before, during and after the expo', Mrs Ducent said.

Among other benefits, the gold sponsor will receive a complimentary 10' x 10' booth and an opportunity to judge local students pitching their business ideas. Silver sponsors have an opportunity to present a workshop and promote their businesses on radio programs. Bronze sponsors have an opportunity to provide giveaways and take part in prize-drawing activities.

DCI Director Ryan Rajkumarsingh said the expo will boost local commerce.

'The idea is to increase awareness of the variety of micro and small businesses that exist in the local market; stimulate sales for exhibitors; educate a wider audience on DCI's services; gain further insights as to the special needs of businesses in crisis; and provide an opportunity to small businesses to network and gain competitive advantages,' Mr Rajkumarsingh said.

In addition to the workshops and marketing prospects, the expo will include a cocktail reception that will provide additional networking opportunities.
