Since November 26, 2019, the Brazilian hotel industry has benefited from Provisional Measure (MP) 907, which ended the collection of fees from hotels for playing copyrighted music in their rooms.

MP 907 added Paragraph 9 to Article 68 of the Brazilian Copyright Law, determining  that the Central Office for the Collection and Distribution of Copyright (ECAD) will no longer be charging such fees for hotel rooms.

In line with the Brazilian government's "Time for Tourism" initiative to support the country's tourism industry, this measure allows the hotel industry to use for other purposes money that had been going to ECAD.
