Germany's labour market has not been dramatically affected by the COVID-19 crisis so far. Many companies could switch to remote work and government subsidy programs and costs saving measures are still preventing the worst from happening. However, while government support is running out soon, the world economy has not recovered and many expect the worst yet to come. How can employers not only prepare for that, but even take advantage of the crisis to reshape their work force so they will come back from it even stronger and more sustainable than before? Dr Dietmar Müller-Boruttau is Partner and licensed specialist for labour law at BEITEN BURKHARDT‘s Berlin office and member of the Labour & Employment law practice group.
