The Private Wealth Latin America & the Caribbean Forum was held in Miami Florida on October 17th and 18th at the JW Marriott Hotel. The Ministry of Financial Services and The Bahamas Financial Services Board jointly sponsored The Bahamas' participation in this event. Minister Brent Symonette brought keynote remarks on the topic "The Redefinition of International Financial Centres in Today's Global Regulatory Environment". He assured the over 300 delegates from the USA, Latin America and The Caribbean, that: "International regulation has not killed the business of international financial centres like the Bahamas, it has changed how we cater to the needs of our clients...in order to remain relevant, IFCs must change how financial products and services are delivered...this is why the Bahamas has taken the initiative to rebrand itself as the Clear Choice."

The Bahamas Financial Services Board, led by CEO & Executive Director, Miss Tanya McCartney facilitated a roundtable discussion which focused on "Relocation: Why the Bahamas. Mrs. Linda D'Aguilar of Glinton Sweeting O'Brien and Mr. Nick Damianos of Damianos Sotheby's Realty who represent BFSB member firms, gave attendees key information on why The Bahamas is attractive for financial services and investment. They focused on living and working in the Bahamas, emphasising the expertise available to support family offices and the quality of life for those who reside in The Bahamas. Tanya McCartney, CEO & Executive Director, BFSB at the end of the forum indicated that "The Bahamas received very positive feedback from delegates. There was high interest in the products and services that we offer to support private wealth management. We expect many follow up meetings with international intermediaries as a result of the dialogue at the forum."
