Webcast #2 – Occupational Health and Safety Reform in Quebec: Analysis of Bill 59 and Related Considerations

In this presentation, we will discuss the potential challenges that Quebec employers may face should Bill 59 be enacted and will cover new elements introduced by Bill 59 to Quebec's occupational health and safety (OHS) regime, such as new OHS requirements regarding prevention mechanisms, as well as the establishment of new OHS authorities. We will also take this opportunity to discuss several developments in other jurisdictions that could potentially be introduced in the context of this reform, such as the right to disconnect.

Mandatory Continuing Education

Please note that pursuant to the amendments to the Règlement sur la formation continue obligatoire des avocats (Regulation respecting mandatory continuing education for lawyers – available in French only) of the Barreau du Québec, which came into force on April 1, 2019, the status of "recognized provider" and the mandatory "recognition" of activities have been abolished.

As stipulated in the above-mentioned regulation, members must preserve supporting documents attesting their completion of training activities for a period of seven years beginning on April 30 following the end of the reference period during which such activities were completed.
