Walkers has advised Alderney Wildlife Trust on a new constitution, acting on a pro bono basis.

The firm's Guernsey managing partner Matt Sanders and senior associate Jessica Robinson advised the charity on the new constitution, which simplified the existing, complex structure of the trust.

The charity is largely run by volunteers, and was setup to Study, Protect and Campaign for Alderney's wildlife.   It looks after sites covering more than 10% of the island and carries out a wide range of ecological surveys, publishing records and undertaking practical conservation.  Its work involves working with and supporting the States of Alderney, including in the running of the island's Internationally Important Marine Wetland.  It deliver's wildlife tourism initiatives and runs the Island's popular wildlife Puffin webcam.

Alderney is the northern-most Channel Island and has an area of around three square miles, and a population of around 2,000.

Jessica Robinson said: "We are so pleased to have been asked to help Alderney Wildlife Trust with this piece of work, and to have delivered a legal constitution that will simplify their structure and support them going forward.

"We are very rarely asked to advise on matters of Alderney law, but we are glad to have had the opportunity to support the trust with its important work."

Roland Gauvain, from the Alderney Wildlife Trust, added: "We are so grateful to Walkers for agreeing to act on a pro bono basis to produce our new constitution, and the level of support and service was exceptional and made the whole process so much easier – we are reliant on donations and fund-raising activities by volunteers to raise revenue, so support like this makes a huge difference to us."
