Lizanne Thomas, a partner in Jones Day's M&A Practice, was chosen by The Deal for its list of "Top Women in Dealmaking." The list includes leaders, based in the United States and nominated by their peers, from the fields of M&A, private equity, restructuring, and activist investing. The Deal chose women who excel not only in navigating complex transactions, maintaining strong client relationships, and leading in and outside of the boardroom, but also in mentorship, advancing gender diversity, and thought leadership.

Ms. Thomas, who is in her 40th year of practice, serves as head of the Firm's Corporate Governance team. She participates in about 100 board meetings per year as counsel to a number of public companies and represents special committees in control and conflict transactions, as well as in internal investigations. Ms. Thomas has extensive experience in shareholder activism, public and private M&A, takeover preparedness, and executive compensation. She also lectures on governance to leading business organizations, companies, and universities.

Ms. Thomas serves or has served on the Boards of Directors of four publicly traded companies. While she was chair of the governance committee for one of these companies, it twice won national corporate governance awards for its shareholder engagement and disclosure. In 2016, she was named one of the top 100 directors by the National Association of Corporate Directors. Ms. Thomas is a Fellow of the American College of Governance Counsel.
