Palo Alto – December 4, 2020 – For the fifth consecutive year, Fortune has ranked Cooley on its Best Workplaces for Parents list.

The list is based on feedback from more than 4.8 million US employees at Great Place to Work-certified companies. Employees answered more than 60 survey questions about their day-to-day workplace experience. The rankings are driven by parents' overall feedback – based on analysis of how parents' experiences compared to that of their colleagues – and by assessing the quality of parental leave, adoption, flexible schedule, childcare and dependent healthcare benefits.

Cooley offers substantial paid parental leave benefits for all lawyers and professional staff. The firm offers a transitional period for all lawyers going on or returning from leave, which allows them to work a reduced schedule with no reduction in pay for up to one month before leave and three months upon return. Additionally, Cooley's Women's Initiative runs a liaison program for lawyers taking an extended leave of absence and provides a person of support leading up to and during the leave. This person will also help to re-acclimate the lawyer following their return to work. All new and expecting parents also receive free pre- and post-natal support through Cleo, which offers in-home sleep consultation, lactation support, return-to-work coaching and guidance on any issue new parents may face. Cooley also covers the cost of a Snoo smart bassinet – an automatic baby rocker that uses soothing white noise – for up to six months to promote healthy sleep for baby and parents. Furthermore, the firm partners with Progyny to bring a variety of fertility benefits to Cooley employees, including for egg freezing, surrogacy and adoption.

A seven-time Fortune Best Company to Work For, Cooley is often recognized for its dedication to its employees, earning annual placement on Fortune best workplaces lists for women, millennials and diversity.
