Walkers maintains its stance as the go-to offshore law firm in the 2020 Chambers and Partners' Global Guide, leading the way with 10 "Band 1" practice area rankings and an overall Band 1 ranking in 'Global Offshore'.

Walkers is ranked in the highest tier (Band 1) for "Offshore Law" with a total of 23 practice groups and 64 lawyers ranked for legal excellence.

Chambers Global Guide applauded Walkers for its depth of expertise in offshore transactional work, saying: "The firm's transactional expertise is increasingly matched by its prowess in dispute resolution, with restructuring and insolvency mandates a particular forte. The firm's traditional strengths in the Cayman Islands and BVI are complemented by increasingly respected offerings in the Republic of Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey and Bermuda."

Walkers' Cayman Islands office continues to receive Band 1 recognition across its Finance, Corporate & Funds and Insolvency & Dispute Resolution practices:

"One of the hallmarks of the team is that they are all exceptionally good lawyers. Also they invariably develop a first-class service to clients in terms of responsiveness."

"They know the market well and represent many of the leading participants. They are very responsive and able to work through and resolve issues in a practical and commercially oriented manner."

"[The firm is my] go-to in Cayman for restructuring and insolvency."

In the British Virgin Islands, Walkers' Insolvency & Dispute Resolution practice maintained its Band 1 rating.

"Walkers is an excellent firm producing high-quality legal work," enthused a client. Another commentator added: "Their service and responsiveness is great. They acted for us in difficult circumstances and remained very pragmatic throughout."

Walkers' Dubai office also ranked at Band 1 and is described by Chambers as being "well-versed in Islamic and aviation finance" having advised on some of the MENA region's most significant transactions in these fields.

The Dubai team was described as "young, vibrant, energetic and good to work with," emphasising that "they understand what we want from them."

In Asia, Walkers' Hong Kong and Singapore offices were described by Chambers as being "finance giants" and "a top-class firm" and once again received a Band 1 ranking.

"We use Walkers when we know that issues are not straightforward, and can rely on them to understand the complexities of the transaction and also give good, considered advice."

In Ireland, Walkers received a Band 1 ranking again for Debt: Capital Markets, with particular emphasis also being placed on the firm's "widely-respected asset finance practice".

Similarly, in London, Walkers received a Band 1 ranking for both its Cayman Islands and BVI practices.

"Chambers certainly does its research," shares Walkers' Global Managing Partner, Ingrid Pierce. "This year's Global rankings confirm that we have market-leading international teams and we are delighted with the support and feedback from our clients."
