Ogier's Global Head of Dispute Resolution and Contentious Trusts Rachael Reynolds was named Offshore Litigator of the Year at last night's Citywealth International Finance Centre awards. Ogier also took home Law Firm of the Year awards in Jersey and Hong Kong & Singapore.

Now in their ninth year, the Citywealth International Financial Centre Awards were established to highlight the excellence of the advisers and managers in the private wealth sector in the major international financial centres.

Rachael's entry focussed on her track record leading on some of the largest and most high-profile cases in the Cayman Islands, including advising investors in the Abraaj Group collapse, one of the largest private equity structures in the Middle East, and leading the Cayman legal team for the Joint Provisional Liquidators on the record $4bn Ocean Rig matter.

Rachael has overseen very strong recruitment in Ogier's Cayman Dispute Resolution team, which has doubled in size amid a series of major instructions, with 85% of the new recruits being women.

Alongside hiring, promoting and mentoring a record number of women in her team, Rachael regularly speaks at events representing women in industry, including the International Women's Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) and is a member of 100 Women in Finance, 100 Women in Hedge Funds and Ladies in Trusts. Rachael also continues to co-chair the Contra Trusts in Litigation conference, aimed at developing the brightest talent in the industry, and heads up the strategic development of Ogier's Dispute Resolution service line.

Rachael regularly advises on contentious trust matters and her work was highlighted with the continued top-tier ranking for Ogier's Cayman Trusts Advisory Group in the latest Legal 500 guide.

Client feedback for the submission included: "She is in the absolute top tier of offshore private client lawyers. She nurtures her team, many of whom are up-and-coming female practitioners, and brings out the very best in all of them. The result is a private client team of such breadth and depth of quality that it is, in my opinion, unrivalled in the Cayman Islands."

Global Managing Partner Edward Mackereth said: "Rachael's contribution to Ogier is absolutely exceptional, working on some of the highest profile matters while also paving a way forward for all her team – an approach that fully aligns with Ogier's vision.

"She also provides great strategic direction and development for the whole service line internationally.

"Feedback from one of her team members says it all: "Rachael is a superb lawyer, an inspirational leader and a great mentor.'

"Clients want her on their side, she has the backing of a fantastic team and she demonstrates what we are all about as a firm. There is no one better."

Rachael Reynolds said: "The Ogier Dispute Resolution team across the world is truly the best I have ever worked with. They are all talented and highly experienced people who have each contributed to the success of the service line."
