Copyright subsists in a published work where:

(1)first publication took place in Singapore; or

(2)the author was a qualified person at the time the work was first published; or

(3)the author died before the work was first published but was a qualified person immediately before his death.

The Copyrignt Act defines first publication thus - where the actual first publication has taken place, any other publication within the next 30 days in any country (including Singapore) is also considered a first publication.
