In a recent development, Dubai Healthcare City (DHC) Authority has issued a Teleradiology Policy, with effect from 7 May 2019, setting out the requirements for Teleradiology service delivery, data transfer, reporting, communication of results and other quality assurance measures.

Teleradiology is a category of telehealth, and is defined as the electronic transmission of diagnostic radiological images (in digital form) between the acquisition site and the reporting site for diagnosis and reporting by a clinical radiologist.

The Teleradiology Policy is to be read in conjunction with the DHC Authority Teleconsultation Policy that was issued in March 2019. The Teleconsultation Policy sets out the relevant requirements applicable to healthcare operators and professionals licensed to operate in the DHC. Teleconsultation is another category of telehealth that allows healthcare professionals to deliver healthcare service either to patients or peers. The service is usually delivered via videoconferencing.
