On June 29, the Privacy Commission published an opinion (source
document in French and Dutch) denying the U.S. embassy's request
to obtain from Belgian authorities the biometric data of four
individuals subject to EU sanctions. The Commission held that such
transfer must be justified by specific legislation, which does not
include the public interest exception under the Belgian Privacy
Law.
