PLMJ - Law Firm is pleased to announce the arrival of PLMJ alumnus Pedro Lomba, who had previously worked for the firm as a senior associate and who returns as of counsel joining the healthcare, life sciences and pharmaceuticals team. Pedro Lomba has proven international academic experience and solid training in public law. In recent years, he has also occupied various government positions, including Deputy Secretary of State and of Parliamentary Affairs in the 20th Constitutional Government and Deputy Secretary of State of the Deputy Minister of Regional Development in the 21st Constitutional Government.

Pedro Lomba is also an assistant professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon where, for over 10 years, he has lectured in constitutional law, public international law, European Union law and constitutional justice. He is now finishing his doctoral dissertation in the same faculty. He was also a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Law of Universidade Católica Portuguesa (in Lisbon), an affiliate researcher at the European University Institute (Florence) and a visiting researcher at the University of Oxford (Centre for Socio-Legal Studies) and at Yale Law School. He is the author of numerous articles and books in his areas of work.

Eduardo Nogueira Pinto, the partner who heads the healthcare, life sciences and pharmaceuticals team, says "we are very happy with Pedro Lomba's decision to return to PLMJ and to join the pharmaceuticals team. Strengthening this team is a response to the growing trust placed in us by our clients and the need to have professionals with high levels of seniority and specialisation to deal with their matters."

In 2015, PLMJ was named Portuguese Law Firm of the Year at the Life Sciences Annual Awards 2015, an award that recognised the excellent work of our healthcare, life sciences and pharmaceuticals team. Under the leadership of Eduardo Nogueira Pinto, the mission of this team is to respond to the need for legal advice in new areas linked to scientific knowledge and new biomedical technologies, which is one of the greatest challenges of recent decades in terms of innovation and development.
