The Bahamas Institute of Financial Services is hosting its 15th annual week of Seminars, under the theme "Paradigms For an Evolving Global Financial Market".

Kim Bodie, Executive Administrator, says that as usual the primary purpose of the week of seminars is to stimulate discussion on topics which are impacting financial services in The Bahamas.

A high profile list of persons from within the financial sector, private business and the international community will address issues such as Tax Information Exchange Agreements, Enhancements in the Regulatory Environment, KYC, Corporate Governance, Effective Conflict Resolution, Fraud & Commercial Crime.

The Rt. Hon Perry G. Christie, Prime Minister, will address the Opening Luncheon on May 17th, while a special reception on May 21 will provide the opportunity for senior financial leaders to participate in discussions with the Minister of Financial Services & Investments the Hon Allyson Maynard-Gibson.

The Week will feature a business exposition as well.

2004 marks thirty years since the Bahamas Institute of Financial Services (formerly The Bahamas Institute of Bankers) has been providing education and professional development programs for members and others in financial services. Mrs. Bodie points out, "We are proud of our accomplishments. Thousands of employees have built their banking careers through the efforts of the Institute. We publicly thank the first Governor of the Central Bank, Mr. Timothy Baswell Donaldson for his vision in establishing an organization of this nature in 1974. We also thank the financial institutions and industry partners who support all the activities organized via the Institute".
