The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs recommended that the Labour Offices monitor the Czech labour market more rigorously and exercise increased precaution when issuing work permits to non-EU/EEA nationals.

The Ministry has also suggested that work permits should only be granted to overseas nationals for positions that cannot easily be staffed by Czech, EU/EEA, or Swiss citizens. The Ministry will continue to inspect employment agencies to ensure compliance by both employers and employees.

The above steps aim to lower the unemployment rate which is currently around 9%.
