On November 29, Aaron Lacey, leader of Thompson Coburn's Higher Education Practice, offered a complimentary, 90-minute webinar examining the U.S. Department of Education's proposed Title IX rules in significant detail. For those who missed the presentation, it can be viewed here.

These proposed rules, if implemented, will constitute the first significant revision of the Department's Title IX regulations in over 40 years. Among other things, the Department proposes to clarify the scope of a school's responsibility for managing incidents of sex discrimination, to codify procedural requirements for the resolution of Title IX complaints, and to define key concepts in the law.

The presentation was timed to accompany the publication of the official rule, which arrived on the same day the webinar was broadcast. Institutions and other interested parties now have through January 28, 2019, to comment on the Department's proposal.
