The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau adopted an interim final rule creating a
"new notice of rights" that may be required to be
distributed to consumers. The interim final rule will become
effective on September 21, 2018, and comments on the rule may be
submitted until November 19, 2018.
A new section of the Fair Credit Reporting Act - created by the
Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer
Protection Act - amended the model forms for the Summary of
Consumer Identity Theft Rights and the Summary of Consumer Rights
to include a new notice of rights for consumers.
