Keywords: US Antitrust law, private antitrust litigation

With economic globalization, corporations around the world have developed heightened sensitivities to antitrust issues. Many of these issues arise first in the United States, which generally is recognized as a world leader in the development of private antitrust litigation.

Recent developments in US private antitrust litigation are the subject of a chapter that Mayer Brown partners Mark McLaughlin, Andrew Marovitz and Britt Miller authored for Global Competition Review's Getting the Deal Through – Private Antitrust Litigation 2009, a compendium of private antitrust law in 35 jurisdictions worldwide. Mayer Brown is a continuing contributor to the annual publication and has authored the chapter on US law for the last three years. The chapter includes a discussion of significant statutes and court rulings that directly impact private antitrust actions in the United States. In addition, the authors provide answers to frequently asked questions on issues ranging from legislation and jurisdiction to private action procedure, class proceedings and remedies.
