Cuba just issued its first consumer protection rules, which went into effect earlier this month.

Issued by Cuba's Ministry of the Interior, the rules prohibit false and misleading commercial advertising and unfair practices.  The rules also give specific guidance about a variety of issues, including food safety and providing products of the quality and weight advertised.  The new rules also provide financial penalties for failure to comply.

This rules should be helpful to marketers who are thinking about expanding their operations, or entering the market, in Cuba.
