January 12, 2018 (NEW YORK) – Each year across our offices, Proskauer emphasizes the importance of giving back in our communities, particularly during the holidays. Our people helped those in need through a wide range of activities, including serving meals, connecting with those less fortunate, donating clothing and providing other critical items.

Across our Boston, Boca Raton, Chicago, D.C., Los Angeles, Newark, New Orleans and New York offices, we served 971 meals including 220 to veterans and participated in 12 volunteer events, contributing more than 189 hours of our time to help people in need. We also concentrated efforts to collect and purchase items to donate to organizations serving those most vulnerable among us, from homeless shelters, VA medical centers and veterans' residences, to various organizations supporting children. Among the items donated were toys, gift cards, nonperishable food items, winter layers and interview clothing.

The Boston office served a holiday meal at the Massachusetts Bay Veterans Residence, an organization which is a part of Volunteers of America of Massachusetts dedicated to serving those most in need, especially those facing multiple challenges. In addition to serving meals, our volunteers spent time connecting with and thanking veterans for their service.  Members of the Boston office also served meals at Rosie's Place, a women's shelter and provider of housing and education services.

In Chicago, members of the office visited Hope Manor I and served meals to veterans residing there. The facility provides immediate housing for up to 50 veterans in need of intensive services and affordable housing for up to 30 veterans who require less intensive services.

In Newark, volunteers gave back by serving meals to homeless and working poor at Goodwill Rescue Mission, an organization that empowers the poor, homeless, and addicted of Newark.

The Los Angeles office gave back in its community through preparing and serving meals at People Assisting The Homeless (PATH) housing facility. PATH is a family of agencies working together to end homelessness for individuals, families and communities.

At Ozanam Inn in New Orleans, our volunteers served meals to those living at the shelter. The organization provides food, shelter, clothing and counseling to the needy in its community.

In D.C., members of the office visited the Fisher House Foundation and Miriam's Kitchen, and prepared food, served meals and connected with individuals in need. The Fisher House Foundation is a network of homes where military and veterans' families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment at a local VA medical center. With a mission to end chronic homelessness, Miriam's Kitchen serves meals to those in need.

Our New York office gave back by volunteering at the Bowery Mission and at Brooklyn Community Services (BCS) Children Holiday Party and Performance. Bowery Mission is an organization that provides food, shelter, clothing and medical care for homeless and needy New Yorkers. BCS helps members of the Brooklyn community access an excellent education, job opportunities, safe and affordable housing, and quality and affordable health care and wellness programs.

In Boca Raton, members of the office gave back by collecting and donating items of nonperishable food to the West Palm Beach VA.
