The JA BizTown program aims to teach students how an economy works by giving them hands-on experience taking part in business transactions. Womble Bond Dickinson's Brian Meltzer was one of the volunteers involved in making the November 16, 2017, JA BizTown a success.

JA BizTown is a realistic, 10,000 square-foot mock town. Students in grades four through six operate the model businesses by:

  • Formulating business plans;
  • Applying for loans;
  • Making payroll;
  • Collecting revenue via invoices and credit card processing;
  • Purchasing insurance; and
  • Shopping locally.

Meltzer supervised JA BizTown's radio station, making sure the kids working there had real-world guidance while they performed their jobs.

JA BizTown is presented by Junior Achievement of Central Maryland.

Brian Meltzer practices in the area of corporate law with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and venture capital financing, and general corporate governance. He has experience representing private equity groups, venture capital groups, investors and investment firms, and public and private companies.
