CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Womble Carlyle attorney Patrick Strubbe helped lead the latest round of training in CREW Charlotte's Becoming an Authentic Leader program.

Strubbe presented a session titled "Negotiating for Yourself." In this session, Strubbe shared how to effectively negotiate and navigate both personally and professionally, while advocating effectively for others. Specific discussion topics included:

  • Types of negotiations,
  • Effective negotiation techniques,
  • Mock negotiations, and
  • Self-directed learning activities and negotiations.

Following Strubbe's presentation, attendees took part in self-directed learning and problem-solving activities. Assisted by fellow Womble Carlyle attorney Diana Quarry, the duo performed mock negotiations, presenting both male and female perspectives of various types of negotiations to the all-female audience.

The presentation on April 21 was part four of the eight-month session of the Becoming an Authentic Leader program, which is based on the eight core principles of the ATHENA Leadership Model.  The program is a collaboration among CREW Charlotte, Athena International and KPMG.  The theme of the April session was "Advocate Fiercely: Negotiating and Advocacy."
