In a speech at the LendIt USA 2017 conference,
Comptroller of the Currency
Thomas J. Curry (i) outlined the function of the Office of the
Comptroller of the Currency ("OCC"), (ii) urged financial
industry innovators to develop strong compliance programs early on,
(iii) described the recently established Office of Innovation as a
resource to support banks and financial technology
("FinTech") companies, and (iv) defended the OCC
initiative to grant federal charters for FinTech companies involved
in banking activities.
