Scott Vernick was quoted in the Business Insurance
article "Draft Social Media Policies, Train Workers on
Avoiding Pitfalls." While the full text can be found in the
July 1, 2013, issue of Business Insurance, a synopsis is
noted below.
With social media growing in use by the day, a well-worded
company policy paired with adequate employee training can help
companies avoid the many potential problems that accompany social
media use.
"Unless you have a very strong social media policy, you
don't necessarily know what your employees are saying about
your company or about your competitors, and so it just creates all
kinds of risks," said Scott Vernick.
Vernick proceeded to caution that a company's social
media policy should "very carefully spell out" what must
be approved before posting.
